Building lists of leads ourselves but also purchased leads.

This is never a good idea. Do not send mass mailings (or any mailings) to purchased addresses. Despite promises from the list sellers, the addresses in the list do not have an existing business relationship with you nor have they given you permission to email them.

If you send mass mail to purchased lists, you will almost certainly be blacklisted as a spammer, and you will deserve it.

Similarly, if the list of leads you are building doesn't expect to hear from you by email, be very careful in that regard as well.

It makes no difference if you're planning on emailing corporate or personal addresses. Spam is spam whether it arrives at the office or at your home.
