As a postmaster, I often receive assistance investigation emails from official organizations in certain countries (which I have not confirmed) such as intelligence agencies and counter-terrorism organizations, requesting personal information of a certain user. How should we respond in this situation?

Thanks for your suggestion.

This mailing list is no substitute for a real lawyer.

With that said, email is not generally a reliable medium and you should examine such communications to confirm that they are not fraudulent. 100% of such notices that I have seen from supposed law enforcement agencies have been fake. If you cannot authenticate such a message, it would be best to simply treat it like any other junk/malicious email.

For REAL notices like that, you had best consult a lawyer whom you pay to give you correct legal advice. There's no one like that here. (Anne Mitchell is a smart lawyer, but she's not YOUR lawyer.)
