Sites with numerous outbound SMTP servers and non-sticky retry is a known problem versus greylisting. One reasonable approach is to more or less trust that the hosts listed in the SPF record for the domains you or your users need to interact with are in fact legitimate. I wrote a short article aboout I chose to do that with the "spf walk" option to OpenSMTPD's smtpctl: https://nxdomain.no/~peter/goodness_enumerated_by_robots.html The commands and script are OpenBSD spamd and OpenSMTPD specific, but I hope something similar is doable on other platforms. (That said, you could do worse than putting a greylisting OpenBSD spamd in the signal path on incoming to your mail infrastructure). All the best, Peter -- Peter N. M.
