Firefox uses a different Google Gears version. Are you using Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6? Do you have the "right" Google Gears for your Mac OS and WebKit? Please check out: http://mailplaneapp.com/download/google_gears
What's Mailplane "saying" in Console log (use Console application to search for it)?
