Firefox uses a different Google Gears version. Are you using Mac OS X 10.5
or 10.6? Do you have the "right" Google Gears for your Mac OS and WebKit?

What's Mailplane "saying" in Console log (use Console application to search
for it)?
At startup it should report:
02.11.09 19:57:16 Mailplane[7815] [INFO] Google Gears is enabled - (use
Preferences/Advanced to turn it off)
