Google has this to say about Safari and offline mail: "Safari is not a supported browser for Offline Mail." I assume this is inaccurate, since Google provides a Gears version for Safari. I downloaded the latest version (2.1.1) of Mailplane. I moved Google Gears for Safari from my library folder to the Trash. I reinstalled Gears. I went through all the recommended steps. Got to the Offline Link: "The Web site below wants to store" etc. Clicked "I trust this site." Clicked "Allow." Then I received the "This page does not have permission to use Gears." message. And Mailplane no longer has a Google Gears settings under the Mailplane menu item.
I seem to be no closer to achieving Offline mail than before.
