I've some news regarding the two important issues:

Crash on loading:

This problem will be fixed with next update (2.1.1). If you like to try it,
I just published a link in the "2.1.1 preview" thread.

Hang on Load/slow inbox loading:

After much experimentation and comparing, I stumbled upon it. I did some Mac
OS X Tiger tests, and noticed that my old first generation MacBook loaded my
inbox about 5 times faster than the MacBook Pro:

- On the MacBook w/ Tiger there isn't any Google Gears

- On the MacBook Pro w/Snow Leopard I use Google Gears. But the "test"
profile had Google Gears disabled (Preferences > Advanced > Enable Google
Gears).

- If Google Gears is turned on, then the delay is much shorter.

- The Gmail session "remembers" the delay. So create a Gmail Session with
Google Gears and then uninstall it, you still have the delay.

In short:

Fast: There's no Google Gears on your Mac

Nearly as fast: Make sure Google Gears installed and *enabled *in the
advanced preferences

Slow: Google Gears is installed but *disabled *and the Gmail session was
created when it was in this state.

*Can anybody confirm these observations?*

A few tips if you like to try the speed differences:

As the loading speed is kind of remembered by the Gmail session, here's how
you get fresh Gmail sessions:

- Install the latest 2.1.1 preview (#1240) to prevent the crash

- ⌘-Click the "Sign out" link to log out

- Do a Mailplane > Reset Gmail Session (this will clear the other sessions,
too)

- Restart Mailplane

In case you like the remove Google Gears from your Mac:
