I haven't tried it, but 'mutt' is a very lightweight IMAP client:

> Currently, MailPlane can't delete an attachment.  My options that I am aware
> of are Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or some other 3rd party email client.  I
> would more than likely use Apple Mail. The problem is, I rarely use the app,
> which means, to delete an attachment starts a long process of syncing and
> updating the local mail client. This also means I get to store a ton of tiny
> files on my computer that I don't necessarily want to.

> I will also be tethered to a mobile device for long periods of time, making
> something like this a non option with bandwidth limits and overage fees.

> What are my options?  I am looking for a super lightweight IMAP client,
> something that just lists messages and offers attachment removal. I am fine
> with command line if it works in Lion and is not too much of a pain to
> install with a 20 chain dependency tree.

> * I am not particularly interested in forwarding the message as it messes up
