Thanks. I just got Lion installed and had to nuke out my MacPorts install
and am considering if I should reconfigure that entire thing, or go with
HomeBrew, or just compile by hand like I am used to.

I have to be honest, I am not looking forward to patching source files and
debugging dependencies if I go the manual way. Then I have to patch the
makefile, inform the developer, hope he is of the mood to take the patch
and cares enough about Mac OS X to make the one special alteration etc.

MacPorts is something I really like because of the isolation to /opt and
how nothing at all will pollute any area of my system outside of /opt.
However, with that mens that a lot more gets installed, as not even
linking is done to files outside of /opt.

HomeBrew works similar, but uses usr/local to stuff your installs into. I
don't particularly like that as I have seen system updates mess around in
that area. Granted, it has been a while, is rare, and I suspect Apple has
learned form their past and won't do such a thing every again.

What to do....

I would be happy to gain my 300px of space off to the right in MailPlane
where the ads/people finder bar thing sits. That's on my list of CSS
aggravations this evening. Unless someone else beats me to it, hopefully.
