Since I started this thread over three months ago, no version of Mailplane has fixed this. I gave up on getting it to work ever.
But I thought I'd check in, this new year, with the support folks, because I miss this functionality. I'm using #8007 with Mountain Lion. Noting what I wrote in September about the version, yikes, that's a long time and a lot of versions…. The message still comes on the screen, but I realize it says something about "starting a new message," and opens a new message, but ignores the attempted file attachment always.
