Chiming in on an old thread as I just had this problem myself.

The settings under Advanced ended up working for me, but I wouldn't have 
guessed it if not for this thread! Maybe they could be labeled differently? 
"Block..." sounds like a completely different (and more extreme!) action 
than "don't open [content type] within Mailplane".
