Hi,

The information about local did help. I spent all evening looking for it
tonight, but now that I found it, I'm proud to say, I created my first two
midi projects ever. They're only two simple drum loops, but they're awesome
in my opinion, (maybe because they're my first LOL) Thank you.

If you need it, here is the link to download the YPG235 owners manual:

keyboard doesn't respond to local messages from QWS either, but I can turn
local on or off if I do it from within the menu system on my keyboard. For
the ypg series, you would press the function button & use the category
increase/decrease buttons to arrow through the menu until you find the local
on/off setting. Since you most likely can't read the display, you would
have to explore the menu by moving the data wheel back & forth to see what
each function does.

and have connected with my local guitar center, and they said they would
teach me about the basics so I could get started. I bought a midi controller
because my Yamaha does not seem to support local off. It works better,
despite the fact that right now, I'm having to use GS wavetable synth. I'm
playing around with bassmidi as one of the articles suggested. I will
continue talking to guitar center and trying to get that to work, but at
least now, I have sound. LOL. Thank you.

and both of your midi input and output should be set to the portable grand 1
or whatever it is called This avoids latency, or delays when you press a
note and then hear it for recording. there are articles on the site that can
explain all of this too. You can set those ports as default and they will
remain that way unless yo88u start qws with the keyboard off or
disconnected.
