Hi Joe,

Just to pick up on a couple of things:

Yes, many musical keyboards have their own menu system to adjust its settings, such as tuning, local, etc. This varies from instrument to instrument, but there is usually a button called Menu or similar.

Regarding the discrepancy between the list of Ports in QWS's Options -> Ports dialog and those listed in the Track Properties, or Default Port:

In the Ports dialog, QWS lists all Input and Output ports. In the Track Properties, it is only the Output ports that are listed: QWS listens on all the Input ports by default.

I hope this helps.

With best regards,

James.

Hello, Seth and List,

I'm not sure I do not understand when you refer to the "function menu on your keyboard." I didn't know there is a menu associated with a keyboard. Do you mean the computer keyboard rather than the synth keyboard?

Perhaps there's a "funcity" menu in QWS which I have not noticed.

I have not ever used the plus and minus keys to navigate menus, so again, I need some clarification.

In any case, I do thank you for writing me.

Does your midisport have only two sets of midi in and out ports, or 4? If it's only two, then there is a possible explanation. On the track diolog,
you are only seeing your midi in ports, and that's normal. If you have 4
sets of both in and out, then some of the ports might be disabled.
As for local, for some reason with Casio and cheaper Yamaha keyboards,
trying to turn it off through the midi menu in QWS doesn't work. You'll
have to do it using the function menu on your keyboard. I can relate, since I also own a Casio product. If your keyboard doesn't have large print, you may have to arrow through the menu to find it while pressing your plus and
minus buttons in order to see what each option does until you get to the
local setting.
Hope this works for you!!!
Seth.

 Hello, Juan,

Thanks to you I found the "preferred port" options under Options. It worked.

There's something unusual about the ports menu. I see about 6 possible
ports, some input and some output. When I go to the "preferred ports"
option, I only see two or three ports. I don't know what to make of that. As said, it's a MIDISPORT, so perhaps all this will make sense to some of you.

Again I thank you for your aid.

Joe Giovanelli

I understand that I should be able to create a track using control-ins. No
track is created. I find, however, that if I go to the Tracks menu I can
create a new track by pressing I. Why can't I get the control-ins to work?

I cannot turn off "local." I go to the MIDI menu and press L but nothing
happens.

I made a track and selected an instrument other than Piano, the default on my PX-350. Even though I couldn't tur Local off, I made a test recording and it played properly. I heard just the instrumented I selected for the track.
