Well, Nicole and others, I have everything working correctly.

When you mentioned loading and playing a sequence and running the metronome 
that I understood the error of my ways. I thought the metronome should run 
independent of a sequence so one could adjust tempo. Once I heard the metronome 
during a playback, I figured that I'd have to set tempo during a recording. I 
inserted a track and started recording, adjusting the tempo. Naturally I didn't 
keep the recording.

I sincerely thank you, Richard Wells and others who helped me get this working. 
The instrument list is a super idea because it lets us hear any or all 
available sounds contained in our equipment.
