Dear Phillip, during the last years appeared a lot of books with clasical heroes and themes, but most of them are quite trivial. Serious German authors, who use classical characters are Christine Brückner and Christa Wolf. Furthermore I know the names of Lindsey Davis, John Maddox Roberts and Gore Vidal. I hav´nt read them, but I think the first and second name are authors of crime stories.
