Piri Reis Symposium (2004)
The proceedings of the symposium on Piri Reis in September 2004 in
Istanbul include a number of papers, some of which are important on the
subject. The published book is rare, but everything is available on the
Internet <http://www.shodb.gov.tr/pirireis/eng_index.htm>. While a number of
papers are in Turkish, often with an abstract in English, a number are also in
English. The time for reviewing the book in Imago Mundi has past, but here is a
list of papers in English. Included is a great deal of bibliography on Piri
Reis, Ottoman maritime activity, and cartography of the period. There some maps
too.
