Many thanks to all those who responded to my query. The Archives of State
reference may be all I need to track the original of the Kelley map down.
Mt. Jefferson was, of course, named by Clark not by Kelley; Kelley attempted
to rename all the other Cascade peaks not named after presidents and name
the entire range the President's Range.
Clearly the map was drawn sometime between 1835 and 1839, but we don't know
exactly when. It accompanied the letter to Poinsett in 1839.
Kelley's 1839 map has been reproduced many times but none of the
reproductions that I have seen are very good. Hence my search for the
original. I am particularly interested in getting a clear view of notations
and divisions noted on Vancouver Island and the Olympic Peninsula, which
appear to refer to land "deeded" to British and American fur traders of the
1780s, including Robert Gray of Columbia River fame, but precisely why this
appears on Kelley's map fifty plus years later I have yet to figure out. If
anyone has any ideas I should be delighted to hear of them!

Looking at this map, it has a hand-written annotation in the bottom
right, by Kelley:
"The country south of the 47th parallel of lat. and west of the
mountains called the Presidents Range was explored in the years 1834
and 5"
Looking at the textual entry, the 1839 date seems to apply to the date
that Kelley sent an accompanying letter to Poinsett in Boston, not the
actual date the map was made. Or am I missing something here?
Lastly, in terms of the Presidents Range, I believe Mt. Jefferson was
named during the Lewis and Clark expedition (1806), not later:
