Yes, I agree.  I find AV to be counterintuitive in many ways, I too
mainly use it to view before translating to MI.  I'm amazed that some
people find AV's layout and printing functions to be more robust than
MI.  I have never found AV's output snazzy at all, it's pretty plain,
unexciting, generic, and difficult to produce (but that's my opinion).
With MI I've been able to throw together some darn impressive layouts in
very little time.  In the end, it all comes down to personal preference
and what you're comfortable with.  I learned AV first, but MI was a
faster, easier learn and I didn't sacrifice functionality.  Don't get me
wrong, AV does have some great features that MI doesn't offer, but I'm
more comfortable with MI and therefore I can do much more with it.
