Thanks for this information Rob, you are right, I checked with our email
people and autoresponse is turned off here for external emails. Trouble is,
do I trust them enough to risk being 'flamed'?!

Hi Peter, if you are in an office using a mail server like Microsoft
Exchange, your IS Department should be able to set the server so that
your Out Of Office only responds internally, and not to anything coming
from the internet. I believe in some email program you can also set
exceptions on your Out of Office assistant (i.e. email coming from the
list is excluded from your responses). Hope this makes some sense...
