Try this:
1. Make layer editable (I forget sometimes!!)
2. Select the "donut"
3. Objects...Set Target
4. Select "hole" (depending on polygon creation sequence, may have to
use Ctrl select)
5. Objects...Split (You'll have to choose whether to keep polygon data or
not)
You should now have separate polygons.
