Juanse,

In terms of transferring the data from AutoCAD to MapInfo you do not
need a separate DXF for each layer, unless you have a particular
reason for separating them (e.g. minimizing file size). A DXF can
contain the data for all your layers in one file. The import
functionality within MapInfo will allow you to ensure that each
AutoCAD layer within the DXF is converted into a separate MapInfo table.

If you do choose to create a separate DXF for each file, then when
using the 'Export' option from the 'File' menu in AutoCAD (assuming
you have a recent version) and selecting a DXF file type, click on
the 'Options' button in the dialog box, and then tick the 'Select
Objects' toggle in the 'DXF Out' tab. This will enable you to select
only those objects that you wish to export, rather than the whole
dwg. To aid the selection of the objects it is helpful to isolate the
layer (turn the other layers off) containing the objects for export.
Obviously, you'll have to go through this process for each layer you
wish to export.

On a related matter, if you have Object Data or database links
attached to your AutoCAD objects, you'll need to use MID/MIF to take
the data into MapInfo.

Hope this helps,

Keith
