Thanks, but that doesn't help either.
A few more details might make things clearer:
1. I have the downloaded files, for example om-geol.e00.gz (Oat Mountain CA
quad). They show up with the little Winzip folder-in-a-press icon.
2. I double-click on the file - after Winzip starts I get the Add menu. This
is of course the wrong menu, since I'm trying to uncompress a file, not add
a file to a new archive.
3. If I try and open the file from within Winzip, I get an error message
"Cannot open file; it does not appear to be a valid archive". I get this
will every file I've downloaded.
4. I've tried changing the name to om-geol.gz without success.
5. I have the latest version of Winzip.
I'm very frustrated. Why can't the government just do things like everybody
else and use Winzip?
Tim
