Perhaps you could define exactly what you mean by "define symbology for a
layer and work (select,...) with it" in ArcView. I fired up my copy and
defined symbols in the "Legend function" which is exactly what you do in a
Thematic Map in MI. But I cant "select,...". What are you talking about???
The fact that ArcView shows you the value present and allows you to choose
from them in the Query dialogue ??
