Karl,

hmm, initially I thought this was the old coordsys problem that most people
have with MI but if you are double clicking on a point and using the object
information dialog to enter new coordinates, I would have thought that
mapinfo would be already working in the correct projection.

Are the new coordinates you enter vastly different to the ones shown in the
dialog? ie are you trying to enter coordinates in degrees, when the map is
expecting metres etc? or are they in diffrent distance units?
The only other thing i can suggest is make sure that the user is entering
long lats in the right places ( i have a colleague who keeps getting them
the wrong way round and lots of his data ends up at the north pole.

if you want to check that its not the old coordsys problem try the
following:

open the map in a new window
open the mapbasic window and type in

set coordsys window frontwindow()

{ alternatively try using set coordsys table "yourtablename" where
yourtablename is the name of your map table.)

coordinates entered from now on should be suitable for the projection of
the map.
