Chris, you're right. I am a geologist and use MapInfo for that purpose as
well as coastal and ocean management. I work the multibeam bathymetry,
surficial geology political oceanographic boundaries, and diverse kinds of
information specific to ocean planning and management. I did my honours
thesis in structural geology and found it an excellent tool for that purpose
as well. MapInfo selectively servicing the wireless industry is a big
gamble, if anything untoward should happen, like a massive downturn in that
industry, where will MapInfo be. Unless they make a concerted effort to
diversify and grow their user base, competitors will eat away at them, and
then we'll be left with no choices.

Subject: MI-L MapInfo 6.5
Hi List,
I recently saw some info about what's new in MI Pro 6.5 and I'm interested
in the direction that MI is going. Don't you think its interesting that
prism maps, new object types (multipoint and collection?) are more important
than some of the issues continually raised here on the group.
Thanks,
Chris Perry
