How much memory does your machine have? I had similar problems on some older
systems when utilizing ECDIS systems (A charting program for ships) that was
resolved by adding additional RAM. In my case taking the total RAM from 128K
to 256K.

Hi Matt

I thought the issue was related to the video driver itself. I have some
machines that work fine, but other that don't. The problem seemed to appear
in MapInfo 5.5 (I could be wrong), and seemed to be worse in MapInfo 6 (I
don't have 6.5 to compare with). You could try updating you video driver,
this has worked for me in the past.

Cheers Ian

Thanks for the suggestion Steve but, alas the problem persists. I previously
used a much smaller and lesser spec machine to run mapinfo without problems,
but now (I mean yesterday and today I am having these problems, when
previously they didn't exist)

Thnaks for the help.

        Matt

It may be worth setting your graphics hardware acceleration to its
lowest
setting and retesting the problem...I have seen this problem also
and
overcame it with a high end 2d graphics card...the software
acceleration is
a problem when digitising, but slowing it down may not change the
problem if
the rest of the hardware is just too slow...even some high
performance cards
will show the problem so there seems to be more than one issue....

        Hello Listers
I have a problem that I know was discussed reasonably recently but I
did not
        see the outcome of it.

My problem stems from the use of a raster backdrop which I am using
to
digitise local roads off. When I pan across the screen to continue a
line,
the screen partially refreshes, with the part of the screen which
was not
previously visible repeating the raster and linework that was
previously in
that position on the screen. Does anyone know how to get around this
        problem?

I seem to remember some consultants up in Cairns do not screen
digitize
anymore because of this problem. I don't know whether this was the
ultimate
conclusion, but any ideas would be gratefully received.

        Regards,
