Technique 1. Use the same mnemonic logic that I learned from my mother for remembering which hand is left and which hand is right. Hold both hands out forward, palms down. Now - the right hand is where the thumb is on the left ! Technique 2. At camp I learned how to find the North with an analog watch (quite some time ago) and a tree. Point the hour hand of your watch at the nearest tree. Now without moving your watch, turn South. North is now directly behind you. 3. THEREFORE - combining the two techniques above... Face North (use technique 2). Latitudes enter the left hip and go out the right one (or vice versa). (Use technique 1). Longitudes go through your belly button and out your back (or vice versa). Amazingly, this also works if you face South. The beauty of this system is that with all the options and vice versas, you can hardly go wrong.
