Mats: Good points that need to be considered when trying to match up data from different sources.
Jacques: There is an MBX called Coordsys Bounds Manager (1.4) which came with MapInfo v6.5, that allows you easy access to much information about the coordinate system and bounds of individual .TAB files, and the means to make modifications. One of the functions is "Optimize Bounds", which seems to shrink the bounds until it comes to a mapped object. Even when considering Mats points, I think such a tool would be useful. I have a large number of inherited files from unknown sources that have bounds as larger or larger than the Earth. I'll like to increase my accuracy when working with these files, but don't relish "optimizing" their bounds one .TAB file at a time. ....thanks ...Bob Robert Karr Phone: 517-373-3028 GIS Operator FAX: 517-373-0171 Science and Technology Division Legislative Service Bureau Michigan State Legislature 124 West Allegan Street, 4th Floor pob 30036 Lansing, MI 48909-7536 USA --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 4298
