I have had great sucess using orthos in MrSid format.
It's a compress format and requires significantly less space than tiffs.

Subject: MI-L Orthophoto Format

Hello everyone,

We are soon to acquire new orthophotos. What format works best in MapInfo?
We also use Geomedia Pro in our organization and it had been suggested that
we go with GeoTiff because hard drive space is cheap, although they suggest
a compressed format if the orthos are to be used over a network system.

Any Suggestions?
