The MapX list is via the MapInfo website - in my experience although the
company monitored it and joined in the threads it wasn't "censored" - worth
a look. You need a site pass but thats free.

MapX isn't a print server in the same way that MI Pro is (for all the
limitations of the layout windows they are at least there). MapX is a
developer component and you have to build your own equivalents. The PrintMap
method essentially dumps the current screen onto a queue - not what you
want.

There may be MI partners who have done this by now - not sure.

A colleague at MI in Windsor (hello Aileen) came up with a good solution -
create a new MapX object with the same layers as your current screen but set
its visibility off and blow it up to the size of your desired output e.g.
A0. Export the image to a JPG or whatever (ExportMap method) and then use a
Word template or similar to load it up with the headers/footers you need and
output it. Then throw away your new MapX instance.

This was a few versions ago (3.5 I think) and it might be that the ExportMap
method will give you the quality output you need without having to expand
your source image. I've been using it with 4.5.1 and its fine but we're only
working with A4 or similar.

Is there a comparable MapX list serve to this? Or can anyone help with how
to get high quality map printing from MapX 5?
