Yes, query for the subset you want and update that, but you may have the table names hard coded so that may not work for you. However, I am puzzled. I use an access table to update a MI table, and if the related records are not there, it does not update, I am wondering what the difference is?
here is a pair of statements from many that I use to update parcel info Add Column "Parcels" (Owner_2 Char (35))From MapInfo_Update Set To Owner Where COL1 = COL1 Dynamic Update Parcels Set Owner = Owner_2 Mapinfo_Update is the result of a make table query in Access that brings data together from 3 separate .txt exports from our assessing software. The make table query inserts the date of the data export. I then query all that <> that date to see if I have parcels that have been retired in assessing that are still active in MI. I also geocode the Mapinfo_Update table back to the parcels table and query that table for records with no objects ( i.e. did not geocode) and therefore lack a parcel region in MI matching the active tax ID in assessing. I have a MI table containing geographic data. I have a program that looks at the access database, matches an ID field in both access and MI and updates columns in the MI table. BUT...In my MI table, there are some records I don't want to update, but the Add Column command overwrites everything including the records I don't want over-written, even when I specify that the where clause in Add Column... Is there anyway of gett the Add Column command to ONLY update records where the ID field matches and leave the non-matches alone? I can re-design the program, but I'm being lazy and don't want and hopefully someone has a quick fix idea. Thanx Ben __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
