Nick,

You can print translucent polygons with Windows 2000 (and some in my organization 
claim to have done it w/ Win NT). However, XP is supposed to handle translucency and 
other graphics much more effectively.

I have accomplished this with a HP 800PS under Win2000 by setting the up the GL print 
driver, print quality at normal, Optimize for drawings/text, and under advanced 
optimization make sure that maximum detail option is unchecked. I hesitate to mention 
how many failures I experienced before stumbling upon the right settings...

I don't know how well the 1055 will work, it appears to have fewer options to control 
the output than the 800PS. I can't say on the 5550PS, but if it is similar to the 
5500GL driver it has pretty good output controls.
