Nick, You can print translucent polygons with Windows 2000 (and some in my organization claim to have done it w/ Win NT). However, XP is supposed to handle translucency and other graphics much more effectively.
I have accomplished this with a HP 800PS under Win2000 by setting the up the GL print driver, print quality at normal, Optimize for drawings/text, and under advanced optimization make sure that maximum detail option is unchecked. I hesitate to mention how many failures I experienced before stumbling upon the right settings... I don't know how well the 1055 will work, it appears to have fewer options to control the output than the 800PS. I can't say on the 5550PS, but if it is similar to the 5500GL driver it has pretty good output controls. Best of luck, Harold R.
