Qik_subset.mbx  on teh directionsmag site will do this for you...

not as easy as it sounds because things like ROWID work on the base table
not teh sub-query, so if the table isnt 'ordered' correctly on the defining
field you will end up with out of synch rowids withinin each
sub-group...(but it is do able) you just need to be sure your table is
sorted correctly (AND PERMANENTLY) on the sub-query field
