I have found this situation as well. One cause could be that someone has changed the
data fields in a table and not updated the workspace. In this instance, your
workspace is looking for a field that no longer exists.

A fix for this is to rebuild the workspace, as tedious as it may be. Don't forget to
save it afterwards. Be sure to instruct your people likewise. I have had to address
issues like this, especially while on vacation. It's not fun, but a necessary evil
sometimes.

Best of luck to you!

Subject: MI-L Workspace Error

I receive the following error when certain workspaces are opened and would
be grateful if someone could shed some light... The error message below
occurred after moving all the wor & tab files to a new server, the file
locations have stayed the same. I also named the new server the same as the
previous host, so there is no problem in locating the necessary files.

Error Message
(U:\workspace Name.wor:28) Variable or Field ID Not defined

After this there is a message indicating the workspace has not been
completely opened.
I opened the Workspace in notepad, but could not find anything of relevance.

I would be grateful for any advice
  Graeme
