I have found this situation as well. One cause could be that someone has changed the data fields in a table and not updated the workspace. In this instance, your workspace is looking for a field that no longer exists.
A fix for this is to rebuild the workspace, as tedious as it may be. Don't forget to save it afterwards. Be sure to instruct your people likewise. I have had to address issues like this, especially while on vacation. It's not fun, but a necessary evil sometimes. Best of luck to you!
