Try opening the workspace in an editor than allows you to search by line -
the error "(U:\workspace Name.wor:28) Variable or Field ID Not defined"
refers to a problem on line 28. Or you could count to it (not such fun when
you get into the 100s or course).

Look at the line and you should get more clues - you may not have to rebuild
the workspace, just modify the one line.

Subject: RE: MI-L Workspace Error

I have found this situation as well. One cause could be that someone has
changed the data fields in a table and not updated the workspace. In this
instance, your workspace is looking for a field that no longer exists.

A fix for this is to rebuild the workspace, as tedious as it may be. Don't
forget to save it afterwards. Be sure to instruct your people likewise. I
have had to address issues like this, especially while on vacation. It's
not fun, but a necessary evil sometimes.

Best of luck to you!

Subject: MI-L Workspace Error

I receive the following error when certain workspaces are opened and would
be grateful if someone could shed some light... The error message below
occurred after moving all the wor & tab files to a new server, the file
locations have stayed the same. I also named the new server the same as the
previous host, so there is no problem in locating the necessary files.

Error Message
(U:\workspace Name.wor:28) Variable or Field ID Not defined

After this there is a message indicating the workspace has not been
completely opened.
I opened the Workspace in notepad, but could not find anything of relevance.

I would be grateful for any advice
  Graeme
