Try opening the workspace in an editor than allows you to search by line - the error "(U:\workspace Name.wor:28) Variable or Field ID Not defined" refers to a problem on line 28. Or you could count to it (not such fun when you get into the 100s or course).
Look at the line and you should get more clues - you may not have to rebuild the workspace, just modify the one line. One cause could be that someone has changed the data fields in a table and not updated the workspace. In this instance, your workspace is looking for a field that no longer exists. A fix for this is to rebuild the workspace, as tedious as it may be. Don't forget to save it afterwards. Be sure to instruct your people likewise.
