I tried this, but I cannot predict what might go wrong as a result. I opened a workspace in note pad, and in the Open Table section I replaced the line:
Open Table "Zoning" As Zoning Interactive with Open Table "Zoning" As test_Alias Interactive. I got an error message, but I could still add test _alias as a layer in layer control after the workspace opened. I'll let you take this from here and test to see what might happen during queries, edits, adding or changing indexes and fields, and saving tables- to think of a few. Thanks in advance.
