Thanks to all who replied, so many solutions, so I tried most of them on
the same layout (AO, mosly linework, some text and ploygons), with the
following results
(Save window as, using the same resolution)
JPEG, 8.6Mb
WMF, 4.09 Mb
PNG, 713 Kb
TIFF, 41Mb
PDF (Adobe) "Error-unable to save image" (problems in setting the
correct page size etc)
PDF995 (Free downloadable PDF maker) 557 Kb
EMF, 2.44Mb
Other solutions are to save as Tiff and then save the Tiff in an XL
spreadsheet cell which can then be opened in XL since everyone has XLand
seriously reduces the file size, another to save as Tiff and convert to
Gif but this didn't work for me.
Hope this is of help to anyone in the same situation that I was in.
