Hendrik, You could also try one of these ways of doing the job: 1. Select the roads that have a roadname (NAME <> "") and then save these to a new table. This new tabel will be without the road without names. And you don't have to pack the tabel afterwards to get rid of the "grey" deleted rows. or 2. Use the Set Table syntax to turn fastedit on for your table. This tells MapInfo to write the changes directly to the file in stead of writing the changes to a set of transaction files first. In the MapBasic window enter this (replace MYTABLE with the name of your table) followed by ENTER: Set Table MYTABLE FastEdit On Undo Off Now delete the selected records, commit the table and pack it to get rid of the deleted records. Now I got the info name Filled for all 6 million rows. Indicate the field "Name_Filled" and try to delete where Name_Filled =0 nothing happend after 2 , 4 , 6 hours. This is annoying! Does anybody know what I can do? I am using MI 7.0 on a 1GHZ and 512 MB RAM PC with WINNT 4.0 service Pack 6 Not really funny is the following: -e.g. tried the same on an equivalent PC with Arcview 3.2 -after 6 minutes I got the result.
