Hi,
2 Add georeferencing info to the tif file This can be done with the free GeoTiffExaminer from www.mentorsoftwareinc.com (look under freebies at left) This is a most usefult tool to wiew, add or edit georeferencing information to a tif and corresponding world file.
A GeoTiff by definition has ALL the projection info in the header and does NOT need a world file. The version of GeoTiff Examiner that I've seen does not say anything about the projection, which is pretty important when you are registering images.
However, you can make a geotiff by using a utility found on this page:
http://www.remotesensing.org/geotiff/geotiff.html
Here's one to read and another to write.
listgeo - utility program (distributed with libgeotiff) for dumping the metadata of a GeoTIFF file.
geotifcp - utility program (distributed with libgeotiff) for applying metadata to a TIFF file, making it a GeoTIFF file.
I've used both successfully.
