I agree. ESRI still has customers running ArcView 3.x, and I expect the formation of a large community running pre-.Net MIPro's after the launch of Pro.Net if MBX support is ditched right away. I cannot bring myself to believe that MapInfo has completely lost their marbles wrt. this issue.
A "clean act" as SCISOFT puts it, is not to the benefit of even a single Pro user, only possibly to some Pro programmers. Legacy is not a bad thing in my book, usually quite the opposite.
