There are a few options for getting maps/layouts out of MapInfo Pro.
1) If the receiving program is a modern Windows app, try OLE embedding. Works well
with
products like Corel Draw. This method still needs MapInfo on the machine.
2) Exporting maps to bitmaps of various formats.
3) "Printing" through to Postscript or Encapsulated Postscript (EPS) using a
Postscript printer
driver and spooling to file. Clumsy, but it works well for some people.
4) "Print" to a truly independent format, e.g. PDF. I've just been playing with Adobe
Acrobat...
excellent product.
I've not heard of a DXF printer driver either but this may be because of no inherent
raster support (I
think) in the format.
I know many people who do not use layout windows to present their maps but use third
party
products (e.g. Illustrator) for the desktop publishing elements. There is probably a
good argument
that says let MI do the mapping and another dedicate product do the presentation. With
integration
and object technologies, this may well be the way we all work in the future.
