I must object:
Firstly: The platypus is nothing like the common old beaver. It is one
of only two egg-laying mammals (the other also being an Australian
animal - the echidna, which is nothing like a porcupine either).
Secondly: Many Australian life forms originated from and have developed
over time from the dregs of society cast out by the POMs approx 200
years ago. (in fact I believe that to this day the English are cursing
their deportation plan, as the supposed "bad" parts of society were sent
to a far off land where the sun shines and the surf is good; whilst the
"good" parts of society remained in the cold, grey gloomy place).
Thirdly: pie-floaters are an English tradition - not necessarily
Australian. In fact we prefer our pies to be accompanied merely by sauce
(possibly known as ketchup in other countries). This delicacy is often
ordered as follows (by the male segment of society): "a pie 'n' sauce
thanks luv". The sauce is often then squeezed into the pie, through a
small perforation in the lid, via the sauce bottle.
Other lessons in Australian to follow at later dates!!
(What does this have to do with HTML???)
