We, too, have experienced problems using Universal Translator and survey
feet. A workaround we discovered in desperation was to use the older
ShapeLink v.1.1, which successfully translated the Shapefiles we needed. Of
course that doesn't help if you're attempting translation from other formats.
If anyone else is having problems, please let MapInfo know so they treat it
as a bug that affects a significant enough number of customers to worry
about. And they should be worried - without a workable Universal Translator
many of us would have no option but to trudge with the juggernaut: ESRI.
Overall we've been pleased with MapInfo, and MapInfo's response on this
board to issues we've raised, or participated in, such as modifying the
Scalebar tool. Let's hope they pay attention to this one - it's critical to
the work we do.
