I am compiling a geological GIS package in Mapinfo 5.0. My question is as
follows: is there a MapBasic program for MapInfo which will create an
automatic link between a text file or image file by clicking on a point or
polygon (for example: by clicking a polygon, can I make a window appear
with a text file of detailed notes relating to that polygon; or by clicking
a point can I bring up a photograph in a small window of that site)?? In
ArcView I achieved this through HotLinks where a column in the associated
table for a theme is annotated with the relevant file details of the link
(eg. the file location of the photo or text file). However, although I'm
reasonably familiar with MapInfo, I cant see how to achieve quite the same
sort of link (without resorting to MapBasic customisation which I'm not
familiar with). Any help you could offer me on this matter would be greatly
appreciated.
