Here is the message I would like to post:

I have a client who currently uses MapInfo 4.5 in Windows 95, P133Mhz, 32 MB RAM.
He has been importing large DXF files (40-50 MB each) containing contours and is using the Universal Translator within MapInfo to convert them into MIF. According to him
it is taking too long. He would also like to use Vertical Mapper within MapInfo to do some 3-D modelling of the contours.

He would like to upgrade his computer to allow faster processing of these files. He wanted to know if he could harness the Pentium 2 technology (dual processor) with MapInfo or what would be the optimal solution to get the most bang for his buck.

He needs to know what size of CPU, RAM, Video graphics card is going to give him the most optimal speed yet still be inexpensive. Should he use a 300 MHz CPU with a 128 MB of RAM with a 8 MB video accelerator card. Will this make a lot of difference in processing power for his application ? Should he go
higher than this or will it really make much difference ?

I appreciate you listening to this request and I look forward to your response.

Please send your response to [EMAIL PROTECTED] when you get a chance.

Thank you.
