FWIW

This is EXACTLY the procedure that has been used for the UNIX versions for
several years.  To make matters worse, the UNIX versions are tied to the IP
address of the machine, not just the unique hardware ID.

Yes, it is a bit of a pain - especially since the software won't run AT ALL
until you provide it a valid license key.  BUT... this is the way licensing
is handled for a lot of software (most?) in the UNIX world, so it's
accepted.  

>From my own experience, MapInfo Corp. has been EXTREMELY responsive and
flexible in issuing licenses - even when we changed the IP addresses of all
our machines.

Keep an eye on this technology - it's probably the wave of the future.
