David,
MapInfo skews and rotates vectors (lines, points, polygons) to match
registered images. The only way to avoid this is to ahave a corrected image
(ie free of distortion and rotation). There are a few packages avialable
which will do this for you. I recently saw one at the Asia-Pacific MapWorld
conference soon to be released. Its called CompuWarp from Compudigm
International. You can get more information at
http://www.compudigm.com/CompuWarp.html
Hope this helps

Subject: MI Adding raster image rotates map!
I have a WGS-84 map/workspace which I am happy with - everything is where it
should be. I also have a
scanned aerial photo of a harbour that is located within my map. The
coordinates of the photo are
unknown, and the photo isn't quite "north-up", so I register it using
control points from my existing map.
All well & good - the photo overlays nicely on the map. However, zooming
out, I notice that my map has
been rotated slightly to suit the photo, instead of the photo being rotated
to suit the map! Is this a problem
that can be overcome? I know my map is correct, so I don't want it
rotated......
Regards,
Dave
