Does anyone know if there are labelling changes coming in a future edition
of MI
Pro. Specifically, is there any chance that a "What You See is What You
Get" labelling
interface will be developed?

Background:
1. Early versions of MI Pro used a graphics object approach to labelling and
a
"What you See is What you Get" screen layout but did not support automatic
updating of the labels when the underlying table was changed.

2. Beginning with MI4, labelling was tied to the underlying tabular data
(good)
but print font sizes were locked... the end result was that the
WYSIWYG feature disappeard. One can regain this advantage by reverting to
the
old labelling method. Neither approach is satisfactory. The old system
does
not allow automatic label updating and the new system does not support
WYSIWYG .
Since version 4, I generally don't print from within Mapinfo... a map copy
and paste to
another application works much better. When printing from another
application
such as PowerPoint or Word, the on-screen visual appearance is maintained.
I
don't beleive there is a single modern piece of software on the market
(other
than MI) that does not support WYSIWYG and quality printing from within the
application!
