Antoine,

There is C source code for all the USGS map projections here:
http://kai.er.usgs.gov/ftp/PROJ.4/proj.html

For the formulae, history and uses of the various projections
used in the US and the world, you can order the book, "Map
Projections -- A Working Manual" by John Snyder (USGS
professional paper 1395) from the USGS for a few dollars. See
http://www.usgs.gov/fact-sheets/earth-science-information/book-sales.html.

For the newest info on projections, especially those in use
outside the United States, I think Cliff Mugnier at the Uni of
New Orleans is the guy to talk to. From what I can tell, he's
probably the most knowledgeable person online now on this
subject. You can reach him at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Finally if you have MapInfo, you can convert output with the
"Export" command. As you do this click the "projection" bnutton
and set it to the system you want. This creates a MIF file, which
is an ASCII file, so, with a little work, you could use these
converted coordinates in other programs.

Bon chance!
