Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html
Bob;
When Carl & I built databases using Maptitude, we had paper maps that we
scanned then use the normal map editing tool or Maptitude to create the
polygon coverage. The slick thing is that when we build the new coverage we
define it as having a fill color then as you procede, you always know what
you have done. The tools are easy and if you screw up the "Red" light is
there to prevent the edit from registering. With the topology being
created realtime there is no junk like merges, builds, cleans etc to worry
with. There are several considerations, merging area coverages was a
challenge and we had to create tools to permit the entering of survey calls
to lock down points.
Just currious, Does the community feel a need for a way to enter survey
calls like N 75 15 12 east 256.75 etc.?
Tomorrow we have a meeting with an firm that wants us to establish points in
texas state plane, Louisiana state plane and geodetic corrdinate systems.
then follow up with survey calls that cover 503 miles of shoreline. We
really don't want them to know how easy it will be using Maptitude!
Maptitude thrives on large datasets. Point and Line coverages are most
effective but I can not complain with how it handles area coverages.
150,000 + polygons joined on the fly to a flat ascii database with about the
same number of corresponding records.
Good Luck
