My sincerest of apologies to all, and specifically Jason, who found my colorful editorial offensive; Larry you make a great point that this is after all a forum to help people and provide support and not chastise them.
I can appreciate the need to incorporate various data sources from various vendors, for specific uses and projects. I can empathize with your situation of have to convert numerous parcels and water billing systems, etc. into a common file format. In that particular case, any vendor specific data that may have been considered proprietary was parsed and concatenated for a specific use to the point that it would no longer be considered proprietary in the sense of its original use or distribution.
In our profession, this is an all too common situations, and usually we are not dealing with a native format but rather with a common and easily converted native export format, time consuming as it may be to re-convert. The point that I was trying to make, inadequately and arguably in poor taste; was that Jason in his statement, " I know the Maptitude website says that their data files are proprietary…", was knowingly asking to "trying to violate copyright and intellectual property rules.".
Perhaps, shouldn't have read so deeply into Jason's original question of, "Is it possible to convert Maptitude to .shp?" and responded with:
To answer your question Jason, yes you can convert Maptitude file to shape files. Maptitude comes with the capability to convert to numerous ESRI compatible formats. Perhaps you could ask the person you acquired the Maptitude files from to export them into a usable format for you.
